Hood River Valley

Long an agricultural center (apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums), and more recently vineyards & wineries, & lavender farms, Hood River first experienced a boom of growth after being discovered as a site for world-class windsurfing and more recently kiteboarding. Full Sail Brewery, and more recently Double Mountain Brewery, have helped create an attraction for Micro Brew connoisseurs. Add to that some of the most eclectic Dining establishments, Lodging and quant B & B's, and it is easy to understand how this laid-back community can make all feel at home, and why Hood River has become a destination for Weddings.

Situated in the Columbia Gorge, and surrounded by fields and orchards, Hood River is gaining popularity as a tourism destination. With magnificent views of nearby Mt. Hood South of Hood River, and Mt. Adams across the Columbia River North of Hood River, the scenery is never dull. Hood River is the western gateway to the Mount Hood Scenic Byway and to a major section of the Columbia River Highway.

The Hood River Fruit Loop is a 35-mile, scenic drive through the valley's orchards, forests, farmlands, and friendly communities. Sample delicious fruits and take your favorites home, visit a winery, experience fields of fragrant lavender, meet adorable alpacas, savor delicious baked goods, and create memories by participating in family activities hosted at Fruit Loop locations throughout the year.

With major ski resorts within an hour's drive South, and Portland an hour West, adventure is just a short drive away. To get a more detailed portfolio of Hood River including videos, pod casts and dozens of pictures, visit the Hood River County Chamber of Commerce site.
